wow....what an eventful time @ 10:43 pm
HAd good times with my friends these few days. Couldn't go to paint the banner for the CCA exhibition. My brother got in Tanjong Katong Secondary School!!!! My brother will join my cousin Azmi whose younger sister will join me next year! Haha....Jannah says that she is pretty and sweet. Hear that Amirah, u're pretty and sweet! Kakaka...

Then the following day was Sec 4 Netball Farewell. SAid goodbye to the people I loike..But before that, my dear Sec 3 seniors had the initiative to cook the food at a muslim house so that EVVERYTHING would be Halal. So my house was the chosen one....And my mother cooked the bee hoon which is one of the Netball's favourite. And she marinated the chicken. 5 kg worth of it. I helped with the cutting and all. Then, Xin Ru, Geraldine and Sarah came to fry the chicken. A lot of hot oil were spilled on their hands....but we had a lot of fun and bonding...tee hee. Then my mother cut most of the fruits. Sarah and Geraldine had the notion to buy the most rottonest papaya at NTUC. How can they not see that it was all soft??? Haiz...i was not there so no one ca blame me. The chicken was tempting but we could only eat one. Then after everything was finished, we took a taxi to Costa Sands Chalet at Pasir Ris. We were not the only groups there. There were families....a group of boy school students...definitely....u could see. Haha....But our chalet was kinda private. I liked it, kinda secluded from the rest...

When we reached there, we had to write our farewell greetings on booklets with each of the graduated sec 4 names on them calligraphed on by Shi WEn...it was beautiful...She got a lot of praises. It was one lot of a time writing for how many seniors and trying to get them all personalised but in truth, you only know a few of them personally.

Busy writing in the book for the Sec 4s.

Then the Sec 1s like Hui Yin got ready to surprise the Sec 4s upon their arrival with fake snow spray that was disgustingly sticky and FAKE...haha. It got on everyone's hair. Except mine not just because I was wearing the tudung, but because I had the quick wits of a fox avoiding the snow. Tee Hee.

Then Dinner time came. There was no bbq because the Sec 3s thought that it was too ma fan or letchei or tedious. My Bee Hoon was a hit. I overheard Xin Ru telling the others that she fried it. Hello??? Give some credit to me and my mother and the others can...especially my mother. She did a lot of work. I hope they all pay up.

After growling stomachs..mainly mine, was filled, the Sec 1 to threes gathered for a discussion on the skit where we were supposed to act out the Sec 4s personalities....more like exaggerate them. I needn't act because I, as usual, was the photographer. The last year's sec 4s were there too, they were now in Pre-U 1. I thought they were kinda left out but they must have had a good time cos it was like a reunion for them.

We had a good laugh at the skit. I was sorry I didnt record it because my camera's battery was slowly dying. After was dead, I took pictures using my phone! One of a photographer's many pleasures. I'll upload it later.

The Sec 4s in part of their farewell gifts, the bibs with their names on it.

On the left, Sui Hui, who broke/sprained her leg and is a WAHLAO WE! long distance runner. On the right, her Sec 3 junior who acted as her...I told them that they looked soo alike and Sui Hui does not believe me...Hrmmpph.

I enjoyed myself temendously!!! Good fun there....even though it was not a bbq. I thought that it was better w/o bbq.

Then, the next day, went to Malaysia to see my relatives who I have never seen before but they may have seen me when I was a baby, with my grandmother on my father's side. I met a lot of my second cousins, two were newborn babies. And one i fell completely in love with. HE was sooo cutee..... tee hee. Relax, he's just a toddler of 2 years. Still, he's absolutely charming. Because of this, I missed the CCA exhinition.

Isn't he just the cutest??? tee hee

At night, Amirah my dear cousin sms-ed me saying that she met someone who looked like me...hmm....isn't that all too familiar? Yes she met one of Safiah's famous triplet Amirah Nabilah. She is a next year sec 4 prefect I told her, who will be in charge of her class. Wow...isn't that just a coincedence or what? When school starts I'll tell my dear triplet that my cousin is under her care... Amira my friend who will be in 3H next year was shocked to find that my cousin is AlSO named Amira(h)!

To throw in the events, one of my relatives got married in Ipoh, my auntie broke her leg but is now healing nicely and I have a new baby cousin on the way to this new world! Insyaallah...I hope everything goes well...But this means that Cik Tina isn't reading my blog! I don't know yet if it's a boy or girl. I don't mind anything....I just ADORE babies...

And I finished off my social studies essay and English comprehension at my first ever trip to the National Library at Bugis with Amira. Somehow, when I go out with her, we always go to Bugis...Always..Had fun...and got caught in the rain. She only completed her Social Studies essay. I still have my chemistry, my maths, my english summary, my english newsapaper review, my english documentary review and my malay worksheet which i do not have. I do not know what i intend to do...borrow from atiwah i guess...

So as today is 31 December...and my father is at one of the New Year Countdown Parties safeguarding it as a duty to his country, hereforth is my New Year Resolutions:-

On that note....a happy 2006 to everyone!!! Do make it a good next 365 1/4 days, we pass throug hthis world only once and every year, every day in fact, we take one more step towards our grave...

Till then, I remain
Nur Safiah....

in a moment, another thought, banishes the other @ 9:11 pm
Haiz...Wat was I thinking of before this? Just goes to show that even though your brain can hold large amounts of information, they cant deliver it...when you want it, when its most important.

I remember thinking that maybe, in the next book, both Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort dies. Because, everyone is created with a purpose. And Harry was created to vanquish Voldie. So maybe, Harry Avada Kedavras Voldie and a Death Eater Avada Kedavras Harry at the same time. In this way, he wont suffer. Because, he has lost his a)father b)mother c)godfather, Sirius Black and d)guardian headmaster, Dumbledore.

And I clearly remember wanting to join a photography competition which has a closing date on 28 Feb. Must remember that. Must start snapping away pictures. And yes, my cousin Amirah will definitely be my schoolmate cum junior. Cedar's cut off point has risen to 247 this year from a saddening drop of 245 last year from 247 the previous year from a proud rise of a lowly 237 the past year. Can u understand that? haha. Just backtrack.

My mother suddenly likes to rent videos from Video Ezy(simei) after being introduced to it by my uncle. Oooh I d o wish I can rent all the cds there. Today we rented Milkmoney( mother's choice), Five Children and IT(brother's choice) and Finding Neverland(mine).

Cant wait to watch it!

I remain, Nur Safiah a.k.a. NurSa.

Ashween got Nan Chiau High and he doesnt like it because he's scared of his friends teasing him on account of it being having a chinese name (gongshang also Chinese wat?) and it having a HIGH instead of normal, SECONDARY SCHOOL> He kept asking me what HIGH was. And complaining that it was in Sengkan. Haven't seen him in a long time. He's a good boy, and friendly, that one. He's grown so tall. My brother too..haha. @ Gonshang school hall. Fadilah was eating the otah/otak2. I came up with the way to eat it, with the toothpick that was holding the banana leaves together. I finished mine. It was GOOD. Especially since I was hungry. THis was during Hari Raya time and Shahini had an open house. Didnt eat much there tho cos I was not hungry. SAdly, the hunger pangs kicked it while we were shopping. The person doing the THUMBS UP sign is me. Holding the otah is Fadilah. Was out with Sade, Fadi and Shahini, at Tampines Mall. Credits to Sadelena, for taking the photo. Posted by Picasa

What to expect in book seven? @ 3:03 pm
Harry Potter projected on Edinburgh castle
So you've finished the Half-Blood Prince already, and even though it's around two year's away, thoughts are already turning to the seventh and final book in the series.

Obviously, some huge questions need answering, so what will JK Rowling need to include in book seven.

***SPOILER WARNING: DON'T READ THIS PAGE UNLESS YOU HAVE FINISHED READING HALF-BLOOD PRINCE***

R.A.B.

Perhaps the most obvious unanswered question from the Half-Blood Prince.

Who is R.A.B.?, the mysterious figure that beat Harry and Dumbledore to the Horcrux in the cave.

Some fans are already convinced they know who the initials belong to - Sirius Black's brother Regulus, but is the former Death Eater, thought to be dead, the mystery person?

Dumbledore

It seems that Dumbledore has indeed been killed by Snape, after being buried and perhaps more importantly, getting a portrait on the wall in the headteacher's study in Hogwarts.

But is that the last we'll hear of maybe the only wizard that Lord Voldemort fears?

As perhaps the greatest wizard of them all Dumbledore may have powers that allow him to return in some way or another.

Maybe there is some kind of good Horcrux that we don't know about yet.

Snape

It doesn't seem like Harry will be calling Snape Professor or Sir anytime soon, but how will the Half-Blood Prince make his mark (dark or otherwise) in book seven.

He would seem to be positioned as the Dark Lord's most loyal servant, and after killing Dumbledore, looks like returning as a Death Eater.

But is that all part of a mysterious plan?

Dumbledore seemed prepared to sacrifice himself when getting hold of the Horcux in the cave, so maybe he gave his life to convince Voldemort that Snape was still evil.

Horcruxes

Lord Voldemort has split his soul into seven pieces, and spread it around a series of Horcruxes and himself of course.

One of these, the diary in Chamber of Secrets has already been destroyed as has Marvolo's ring that Dumbledore took from the Gaunt House.

It seems that Nagini the snake is one of them, as is the locket that was owned by Voldemort's mother and perhaps the cup belonging to Helga Hufflepuff.

Which leaves one Horcrux we don't know about, and all of them must be destroyed in book seven to give Harry a chance of stopping Voldemort for good.

Ron and Hermione

Finally Ron and Hermione seem to be getting together, after six years of neither of them realising how keen they were on each other.

And they look like joining the fight with Harry, as they seem certain to stick with him while he searches for Voldemort and the Horcruxes.

That's after the wedding of Bill and Fleur of course, when surely they'll be a proper couple at last - if they aren't already.

And don't forget about Harry and Ginny of course! Will the pair get back together if Harry survives his showdown with Voldemort?

Hogwarts

Will the ancient school feature in the final book at all, and will it even be open to students?

Without Dumbledore there to protect the students many parents may not want their children at the school, fearing for their safety.

But some may see it as the safest place, as long as all those magical protections put in place by Dumbledore are still there.

And in the Half-Blood Prince Dumbledore spoke of how much Lord Voldemort liked to be at the school when he was younger, so what are the chances of him trying to return?

Draco Malfoy

What's going on with the younger Malfoy?

He seems to have graduated from comedy bully to fully-fledged Death Eater since his father Lucius was locked up in Azkaban.

But his failure to kill Dumbledore may act against him, depending on what Lord Voldemort gets to hear about what happened.

He's already proven that he didn't have what it took to kill when it mattered, but does that mean he couldn't kill Dumbledore, or is there still some good in him that may be crucial.

The showdown

It's obvious that only Harry or Lord Voldemort can survive the final book, at some point in it they will have to battle.

And it's also likely the Death Eaters and the Order will get to draw wands too, and knowing JK Rowling's form up to this point, it seems unlikely they'll all survive...

to remember a childhood past @ 2:28 pm
i havent been blogging 4 quite a period of time.

so far, i was not in the mood to. i have to update about the picnic. but i dun want to post pictures. it was suppose to be a bonding session for sec 1 to sec threes. it turned out ok. I havent felt like a kid since ages. I forgot what it felt like to run just for fun and not because you have to exercise or a teacher tells you to for physical ed. I forgot what it feels like to sweat while you have fun, to scream your hearts out because you are truly excited. And it all came back to me that day.

I want more of this. I havent played at the playground in a long time and when you have friends who feel the same way as you, yiou can forget about all the adults staring at you and the little children who are gaping at you. You can just laugh it off their faces. haha. THis IS a free country my good fellow citizens.

Then I missed the Sec 2 Netball BBQ because my dad asked me to follow him to change my line to student's plan. I followed and my little brother got a new hp. And I got a Motorola V3 Pink. The one suni got and the one Charlene and Sarah will be getting and Yasmin wants the black one. Its fine and has bluetooth and all but the sms-ing speed is so SLOW!

And I had to skip the crescent girls match yesterday because I had to follow my little brother to get his results- the school which he is posted to. Im glad I did not because I could miss the match. I want to play against Crescent! but because Adik was dissapointed at what school he was posted too, he got his fifth choice. All of us were. Him, me and my mother. After that, his mood was sooo changed. Kept disagreeing with my mother, that one. No smiles at all. It was as if someone deflated all his hopes. So today, the day where all nxt year sec 1s have to register at their future schools, my mother and brother are going to appeal to his first and second choice. I hope he gets into one of them...

My cousin, Amirah will be joining the 4 yr Cedarian journey like me. I look 4ward to see her in the blue top and grey bottom next year and telling her the tricks of being a cedarian. I hope Aishah, who's appealing through track gets through too. Her ability to sing was quite unexpected, seeing as how she became the 1st runner up of Gongshang Idol and Rico was THE GONGSHANG IDOL. I watched the whole cd that the school gave to all the graduating p6 yesterday when they got their posted schools. Why is it when I come out of Gongshang, all this brilliant stuff happen??? I got nothing when I got my results back..haiz. Still, GOngshang teachers are well known for giving out very nice souvenirs. Not all schools have them. At elast I got a rock which has apicture of my beloved primary school when I took my top 10% award. AT least that's something.

Doodling is Gd4u @ 9:22 pm
Do you often find yourself sitting in class, mind wandering, doodling all over your paper? YES I DO (that was me, Safiah haha) Are your margins filled with patterned sketches and fashion designs? Then face it: you are a doodler. But it may surprise you to learn that doodling is actually beneficial to your health. Two-time cancer survivor Carol Edmonston spent a ton of time doodling and found that her stress was reduced as a result of taking her mind off her problems. She believes that doodling has transformed her life and made it more worry-free. To learn more about this and her simple approach for doodling (and to see some of Carol's amazing work), log onto sacreddoodles.com. And then next time your teacher yells at you for doodling during class, tell her you're just trying to improve your health.

Doodle Instructions

1. On a clean piece of paper, create your own doodle by beginning and ending the outline at the same point, with one single movement of the pen.

Do not lift the pen off the paper while making the outline.

Do this in 5-7 seconds (short enough that you don’t think about “what” you are creating).

2. After you create the outline, begin to fill in your "doodle" however you like. Remember, it's not about "what" you create - it's about "how" you create.

3.Continue to fill it in however you wish - add hearts, circles, lines or anything else that comes to mind. Trust the process and the process will support you.

Watch any thoughts that might come to the surface as you create.

Remember… have fun and don’t worry about “what” you create- just have fun and enjoy the “process” of creating.

Ask yourself...

• Is my mind wandering or am I content and trusting of the process?

• Am I able to stay focused in the moment or do I find myself drifting from past to future where stress, anxiety, fear and other limited emotions reside?

• Am I living my life from the perspective of the “Now” moment or am I spending too much time in the past or unknown future?

May your creative journey be filled with a sense of awe and wonderment and may you carry that same enthusiasm into your daily life, whatever comes before you.

this sure is easy..not @ 3:23 pm
trying out BlogThis....haha...and surfing on other people's blogs

bookmarking the interesting ones..

i had a revelation yesterday...

...jodoh di tangan tuhan
ia takkan ke mana
buat apa nak dikejarkan
kita masih muda...

And if i dont get that special feeling towards someone, then maybe its not time or its not the right guy. But somebody told me that he has felt that way. I think he's too naive or still too young. If you have only lived 14 years of your life, how do you know what it feels like and how do you not rule out infatuation just because the looks of the girl made him melt like a puddle of water?

Still, if im not this wise, why else does he WOW at my words and ask my how i know all these things. My talk sounds like I have years of experience in bgr. Truth is, books really contain the knowledge of the world. And I read a lot. Books can do that.

So I'd rather let time flow and enjoy myself and not be caught up with a reponsibility that I would not want. When the time comes, it comes. And I'll bask in the limelight.

I remain,
Nur Safiah a.k.a. NurSa

Childaid 2005 @ 2:56 pm
ChildAid is a charity children's concert organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times in aid of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Budding Artists Fund. It happened on 7 & 8 December. I was involved in the process of coming up with press releases for ChildAid and being a volunteer usher there. Being a first timer, my press release got a LOT of editing.

"EXCLUSIVE": Click here and here to see my first two published press releases. Dated quite a while ago. I forgot to advertise all of you to go to this concert. I don't know if it got into the papers though. Haha... Bleaggs. ME being a show off. credit goes to Mr PAul Tan for editing my, what i feel, badly done work.

Anways, first on 6 Dec, I went to the briefing of ChildAid. Most of the IN crowders volunteered to be ushers at the concert. Joanna, Sarah Ann and Krystal and I intended to meet at City Hall Interchange at 3.00 pm. The briefing was at 4.00 pm. I knew I was going to be late so I asked them to go first if I was not there by 3.00. Turns out, I met Krystal who just moved into her new Tampines home and she was late with me. So Joanna and Sarah had to wait for half an hour for us. Poor them and so unresponsible us :P.

It was a hard time trying to find the University Cultural Center(UCC) , the concert avenue. That's at NUS btw, at Clementi. So we were briefed. We were given passes that allowed us access to places where only AUTHORISED PERSONNEL could enter. WOOHOO! I was an authorised personnel for the first time in my life! haha.. and I got to go backpass and see the performers. Some were quite dishy actually, like Nathan Hartono, Ahmad Syarifullah and the 3 dash1 ppl.

Then, Shahrena ordered Canadian Pizza for all of us for dinner and I found out that Daniel couldnt take beef cos he's a Buddhist, and he can't eat prawns too cos he's allergic to them. That must be bad, to be allergic to something. I feel so lucky that I have no allergy to anything. Rajesh cant eat beef too cos he's Hindu and that he hates chilli (how can any Singaporean hate chilli?? oh wait Geraldine hates chilli too :P). Did I miss anyone out? A lot of us made friends with Clarence and his mother. He would be playing the piano at the pre-concert reception on the first night only. He is VERY GOOD. I watched his fingers just whizz over the black and white keys and the music enter him. It's like he's posessed with his music. THat's all that he thinks of when he plays. His mother is very proud of him I dare say.

Clarence at the piano
Clarence in motion. Smiles :)

With our tummy well filled, we proceed to watch the full dress rehearsal. It was the only time I watched the concert fully. It was cool, seating near where the guest of honour were going to be seated the next day. And there was no one around except the crew, the IN crowders and other SPH management staff. So the performers were just looking at us. I felt like I was in a hot seat when Syariff sang, EYES ON YOU cos he had eye contact. Gosh does he have eye contact. Phew. And I cant stare at boys...i cant stare at anyone. But it felt kinda rude to avert your gaze when someone is performing so I had no choice.

7 Dec was the corporate sponsors and social workers night. President Nathan was also the Guest of Honour, along with Dr Tony Tan, who opened the place up, officially.

This time, all of us were wearing black with orchid corsages. On the way to the UCC, all of us felt like we were going to a funeral. :/ haha. On that day, I got terribly late. I got lost in NUS which is an easy thing to do as it is a HUMONGOUS place! Wearing black didn't help, I was sweating profusely. I asked all the students there and none was very sure of the directions. Haiz...

I was very fashionably late because I forgot to bring my tickets and had to go all the way back from Tanah Merah MRT station (IN THE MRT) to back home. Sheesh lah right. If not i would havve been early. HAizzzz.

Then I was stationed with Natalie at the VIP staircase giving out stickers for VIPs to put on their clothes. Clarence was playing the pre-concert segment and after that VJC choir came in singing their christmas carols. Now I know why they are the best in Singapore.. The people were eating their buffet dinner and I was in worry waiting for Dian. I gave her the wrong directions. She was lost. In the end, we were half an hour late. The security guard gave her directions while on my phone.

But at least she enjoyed the concert. I got two free tix cos of being in IN. :P After that went to Macs because she didnt have any dinner, my fault. I think I saw the drummer of 3dash1, Nashir, who performed at the concert. Had to go home on the MRT after that, accompany Dian. Flash was not allowed in the concert hall so my pictures are not great.

3dash1, winner of School of Rock competiotion organised by Straits Times, comprising of Asyikk, on the left, he is the lead vocalist, Andika on the right, playing bass and Nashir at the back, drummer.

8 Dec, concert open to public who bought tickets. My duty that night was to give out concert pamphlets to people. Very flustering. But luckily there were professional UCC ushers there. I want to be just like them if I school at NUS. But the disadvantage was , once the concert starts, they cant get to see the show. THey have to stand guard. haha but I still could see the show again, only I sont wish too.

A booth was set up to raise money for the ST School Pocket Money Fund selling these adorable teddy bears dor $3 each. The concert goers of the first night had one teddy bear free, including me. But I find that second day's teddy bear more cuter. At the end of the night there were extra so I took one. But I think the booth's teddy bears were much more cuter and that was hands off to every one who didn't pay. Oh well, the grass is always much more greener on the other side.

That blur is Rajesh and manning the stall are ,from left to right, NAtalie, Samantha and Pamela. Lucky her got to give a bouquet of flowers to President Nathan on the first day.
Teddy Bears for Sale!!!
See, aren't they cute!!! Awww...

On that night, the IN crowders would give flowers at the end of the concert to ALL the performers. Can you believe that??

So we were waiting in the post-productions room for our turn to come on stage and Rajesh and Mervyn were cracking jokes up making all of us double up with laughter. Mark's face turned red and he was CRYING...at least i saw tears come out from his eyes. :P

The IN crowd ushers. Holding Gerberas to be given to performers.

It was time, and all of us went onstage. I was instructed to give flowers to Ashton and Reynita, the dancers. So I wanted to give them but someone had already given them i.e. Rajesh. So I turned to the person in front of me who was Asyikk. He saw me fumbling with my bundle of gerberas and he said "Thank You" such a sweet voice. And suddenly this hand holding a yellow gerbera shot out and gave it to him i.e. Natalie.. I was so nervous I didn't even see his face. So paiseh...aaah. SO i went to give the VJC choir....haizzz.. Samantha got to give Nathan Hartono a flower alone in front of everyone. And after that , a group of girls from the audience went"Nathan, WE LOVE YOU!" Whoa...

Our last duty was to ask around if anyone wanted to take the shuttle service. Some of the performers were also there including Nathan Hartono, Abigail Sin and Yun Chai. Earlier when me and Sam got out from backstage, Joanna and Pamela were talking to Loh Jun Hong, the 15 yr old violinist frm the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at NUS. When I passed by him I said " somebody's in love" and then I think Joanna gave him a flower or asked for his number. I dont know what it was that made him punch his fists in the air and go "YES!" haha. Cute. We wanted to take a picture with him before the concert but he was talking on the phone. But we managed to take a picture of Nathan. Someone asked him if he remembered Sam and he sais yes, the flower girl. Haha. Sam, the flower girl. Hey Sam, u look so fitting with him..Haha

Got a ride home from Mr Peter Khoo in his luxurious BMW...Learned so many things talking in the car with Mr Khoo, Elsie, Krystal and Asyikin.

I Want this again!!!

Next morning, got a message from Danial, Thanks hunks and babes for helping out. Gave me a laugh that one...haha

P.S. THere are more photos of my whole experience here:::

In Autumn
Fannie Montgomery

They're coming down in showers,
The leaves all gold and red;
They're covering the little flowers,
And tucking them in bed.
They've spread a fairy carpet
All up and down the street;
And when we skip along to school,
They rustle 'neath our feet.

Autumn Leaves
Marilyn Helmer

Wind blows
and fills the skies
with gold and yellow
butterflies

which flit to earth
with skips and hops
to dance and twirl
like spinning tops.

The last one dips
in a puddle to float
like a single scarlet
sailing boat.

my dream house would have this river as it's backyard.

wow. can u just feel the sea breeze. and that amazing colour of the sun reflected off the waves. Haiz.... Singapore just has no beaches of that kind.

i wish i could go to freezing antartica and witness one of these magical auroras.

i wished i could see a real iceberg. looking at this picture, i can just imagine it. see how little the canoe is compared to that massive chink of frozen H2O?
